Construction Begins in Riedstadt!!

30. August 2024

In July 2024, as planned, we began the construction of the carport solar installation in Riedstadt. This significant project, implemented on the premises of ARS Altmann AG, boasts a capacity of 17.5 MWp. Over 28,000 modules will be installed on a specially designed carport structure. These modules will protect the vehicles parked beneath them from the elements while simultaneously generating electricity.

Given that the site is already used as a logistics hub, we faced considerable planning challenges. To address these, we divided the area into several construction phases. In each phase, vehicles are removed until construction, including the installation of inverters and modules, is completed. The string cabling is routed overhead via bridges between the carports, ensuring that after completing a section, only the main cables from the inverters to the transformer stations and the grid connection point need to be laid underground. Once the construction is completed, vehicles can be safely parked under the new carports. This approach allows the project to proceed without compromising vehicle safety or requiring the entire site to be cleared.

To ensure the smooth operation of the area, the carports are being built with a specific minimum height. The lowest point of the structure ensures a clearance height of 2.7 meters, while the highest point exceeds 4 meters.

Another challenge arises from the site’s historical burden. Due to the findings of the ordnance investigation, a borehole survey must be conducted before laying each foundation to eliminate the risk of potential unexploded ordnance, particularly artillery and tank munitions.

Despite the more complex construction requirements, this project serves as a prime example of dual land use. By utilizing existing infrastructure, we avoid sealing new land, contributing to the production of CO2-neutral energy and supporting climate protection efforts.
