79.000 m² PV carports in Riedstadt
19. April 2024
Once again, a new PV carport project from The Dillinger Group is being built on the extensive parking lots of ARS Altmann AG. This time not in Italy, but in Germany, more precisely in Riedstadt-Goddelau. The successful forwarding and logistics company ARS Altmann AG is one of the leading forwarding and automotive logistics companies with a sustainable energy concept in Europe.
A good 79.000 m² of the approx. 180.000 m² company premises will be covered with PV carports - 4.200 parking spaces will be equipped with around 28.000 photovoltaic modules.
This means that the area will be put to dual use as a parking lot and power plant! As the parking lot area is already sealed, no additional area needs to be sealed for the construction of the solar park. In the course of the energy transition and the increasing number of electric vehicles, it is becoming more and more attractive to use carport roofs to generate energy.
The carports to be built will fulfill two important functions: The sustainably generated electricity can be used for electromobility and, in addition, the vehicles are optimally protected from hail, snow, rain or overheating by the roofing. In the medium term, a large proportion of the electricity generated is to be consumed directly on site.
In addition to the demand from vehicle preparation, electric vehicles could also be charged before delivery. In the immediate vicinity of one of the transformer stations, 2 fast-charging columns with 150 kW and 10 charging columns with 22 kW are to be installed. The demand is expected to increase steadily over the next few years. We will build different types of carports and adapt to the individual needs of ARS Altmann AG for the different parking space grids.
The large carport is expected to reach an output of 17.5 MWp, making it currently the fifth biggest PV carport in the world! The PV carport will generate around 16 million kWh of electricity per year.
Planning permission has already been granted and construction is scheduled to begin in July 2024. The implementation planning is currently being drawn up and the structural analysis and structural testing for the carports are being calculated.
